Too Wild (too late) de Jesús Coll

Here are some images from the shoting of my first short  film, Too Wild (too late).

This was my first experience working with actors in a film. Despite being an amateur production, the filming was physically exhausting, both due to the nature of the subject matter, which required constant movement, sequences on slopes of over 50°, tracking the characters with a gimbal at ground level, the continuous transport of heavy film equipment in every scene swap, and the need to wake up so early in the morning to apply full-body makeup to the actors.

Just a week before filming, the City Council decided to move earth and clean up locations that had become an illegal dump. This forced me to find new locations in a rush and make last-minute changes.

Post-production was also a challenge for me, as I really enjoy paying attention to color grading and reflecting the different times of day in which the story takes place. Although I worked calmly but steadily, the process took several months.

I shot the film with Irix lenses in 6K. The final edit in 4K gave me some leeway to reframe certain scenes. Working with Blackmagic RAW files allowed me to interpret the different times of day with relative ease, thanks to the high degree of manipulation these file types allow.

Aside from the hardworked final scene, the biggest challenge for me—and the PC—was “cleaning up” objects in the scenes, such as streetlights or litter. Something I never imagined I could do thanks to DaVinci Resolve, Fusion, and Chadwick‘s tutorials.
